Minimalist interiors don't have to be white, off-white, egg-shell white and grey, and there can be warmth, texture and even moments of fun and joy designed into it. Lachlan Shepherd Architects took this approach, using timber battens in the hallway, which otherwise would have been a white plasterboard wall, adding tactility while integrating hidden doors.
