Continuing down JHID memory lane! .This Oregon house had good bones but some terrible issues. When our clients bought it, the interior had been pretty much destroyed, and a wide driveway wrapped around the entire house, dominating the landscape and ending at a four car garage with the best view in the house. We relocated the garage to the site’s first point of entry, and converted the old garage to a cozy family room and home-office (photos 8 and 9) looking out on the pool, and the river below..There were big existing orange beams and unfortunate orange floors, that both needed to be stained very dark to hide the wood tones. That led us to a graphic black and white palette, which then guided all the other material decisions. .We’ve designed lots of houses over the years, but this one was both of my kids’ favorite. Its just an incredibly cozy and not precious house, with salmon fishing, mushroom hunting, and forest exploring right out the door. 💚.#estacadahouse📷
